معرفی
Jeffrey B. Vancouver is a Professor and Byham Chair in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at Ohio University's College of Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from Michigan State University (1988) and has extensive experience in research and teaching. His work focuses on computational models of self-regulation, goal processes, and expectancy beliefs, with notable contributions to understanding how these factors influence decision-making and performance in organizational settings.
Education:
- Ph.D. Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Michigan State University (1988)
- M.A. Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Michigan State University (1988)
- B.A. Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Ohio State University (1984), with additional coursework in Computer Science and Mathematics.
Research Interests:
Dr. Vancouver develops computational models to simulate human-environment interactions, emphasizing control theory formulations of self-regulation. His work explores how expectancy beliefs (e.g., self-efficacy) shape goal adoption, striving, and revision. Recent studies address the dynamic interplay between goals, resource allocation, and performance outcomes. He has also engaged in debates on methodological approaches, such as the use of computational models to resolve theoretical inconsistencies.
Grants & Awards:
- Ohio University Presidential Research Scholar (2019)
- National Science Foundation grants (e.g., NSF 09-12, $408,060)
- Australian Research Council grants (e.g., ARC 12-15, AU$270,000)
Advising & Mentorship:
Dr. Vancouver has mentored numerous graduate students, including Xiaofei Li (2017) and Leah Halper (2017), whose dissertations address topics like computational modeling in leadership and STEM self-efficacy. His lab, the HEIDi Lab, focuses on dynamic decision-making and self-regulation processes.
Labs & Collaborations:
- HEIDi Lab (Human-Environment Interaction & Decision Informatics)
- Collaborations on projects like the NSF-funded 'Computational Modeling for Individual and Organizational Science' workshop.
