Jeffrey B. Schriber is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Iona University, where he teaches general and physical chemistry and leads a computational research group focused on solar energy materials and theoretical method development.
His research interests include:
- Theoretical and computational chemistry
- Electronic structure of organic molecules for solar energy harvesting
- Development of quantum mechanical methods for radicaloid and challenging electronic structures
- Intermolecular interactions and symmetry-adapted perturbation theory (SAPT)
- Machine learning–aided force field development
- Method development in multireference quantum chemistry
Dr. Schriber is a developer of the Psi4 quantum chemistry software and a member of the MERCURY consortium, which supports computational research at primarily undergraduate institutions. He mentors undergraduate researchers, with Liam Bowman as his first advisee.
He is involved in educational initiatives, co-authoring a book chapter on building successful computational chemistry laboratories at undergraduate institutions. His teaching includes courses such as General Chemistry, Physical Chemistry I and II, Instrumental Analysis, and a Special Topics course on Artificial Intelligence in Chemistry.
Dr. Schriber earned his B.S. from the University of Richmond, Ph.D. in Chemistry from Emory University under Francesco Evangelista, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Georgia Tech with C. David Sherrill.
