Jeffrey A Douglas

Jeffrey A Douglas is a Professor of Statistics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), with joint appointments in Psychology and Educational Psychology. He serves as Director of the MS Program in Statistics and Co-director of the Educational and Psychological Measurement Lab. His expertise spans psychometrics, latent variable models, and multivariate categorical data analysis. Douglas holds a BS in Mathematics (1990) and PhD in Statistics (1995), both from UIUC.

He has held prior roles as Assistant/Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1995–2001). Active in editorial work, he serves on the boards of Statistics and Its Interface and Psychometrika. His research focuses on statistical methodologies for educational and psychological measurement, including cognitive diagnostic assessments and item response theory models. Recent work emphasizes sparse modeling and nonparametric approaches in latent variable analysis.
