Jeffery R. Webber is a Professor at York University's Department of Politics, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. His research focuses on Latin America, Marxism, political economy, and social movements. He holds a PhD from the University of Toronto and taught previously at institutions including Goldsmiths, University of London and the University of Regina. Webber is the author/co-author of five books, including The Last Day of Oppression and Blood of Extraction, and co-editor of three volumes. His current projects include The Latin American Crucible and The Authoritarian Disposition. He has lectured globally and served on the editorial board of Historical Materialism.
Research interests span Latin American political economy, imperialism, class struggle, and indigenous movements. His work critiques neoliberalism and explores reformist politics, particularly the 'Pink Tide' era. Webber emphasizes the dialectical integration of state and capital in global systems, challenging dominant geopolitical theories.
