Jeffery Hancock

Jeffery Hancock serves as Associate Professor of Instruction in the Department of Theatre at Northwestern University's School of Communication, where he bridges academic instruction with professional artistry in dance and theatre.

His creative practice centers on embodied research in contemporary dance choreography and theatrical costume design, informed by decades of performance with premier companies including River North Chicago Dance Company (as founding principal dancer) and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. Hancock's work investigates movement narrative, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and the materiality of costume in performance contexts, often emerging through site-specific creations for festivals like Edinburgh and institutional partnerships.
