Kristy Leigh Hall is an Associate Professor in Costume Design at the University of South Carolina's McCausland College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Theatre and Dance. She has an extensive professional background, working with renowned theaters in Chicago, New York, Washington, DC, and internationally. Her notable roles include Head of Costume Design and Costume Director at Chicago’s Definition Theatre Company. She holds an M.F.A. from the University of Maryland (2010) and degrees from Northwestern University.
Her research and professional interests focus on Costume Design in contemporary theater, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and historical authenticity. Her work spans diverse productions, from classical plays like Pygmalion to modern works such as Pipeline, reflecting a commitment to innovation in performance aesthetics.
Ms. Hall has been recognized with a Joseph Jefferson Award for her costume design in Pygmalion and a nomination for her work in Frankenstein. These honors underscore her contributions to Chicago’s theatrical community.
Her professional collaborations include prominent theaters like Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, and Synetic Theatre. She also designed costumes for the film Holy Irresistible and is featured in American Theatre Magazine. Her upcoming project, Catching the Moon, will debut at Children’s Theatre of Charlotte.
