Jeffery A. Byers is a Professor of Chemistry specializing in catalysis and materials science. His research focuses on developing transition metal-based catalysts for energy applications, sustainable polymer synthesis, and CO₂ conversion. He holds a B.A. from Washington University and a Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology. Key honors include the 2017 American Chemical Society PMSE Young Investigator Award and the 2015 NSF CAREER Award.
His research group explores novel organotransition metal chemistries for polymer production, cross-coupling reactions using earth-abundant metals, and CO₂ hydrogenation for renewable energy storage. Recent work includes electrochemically switchable polymerization systems and bioinspired catalysts for methanol synthesis from CO₂.
