Jeff Jiewei Yu is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the Eller College of Management, University of Arizona. His research focuses on the economic effects of financial reporting in capital markets, with expertise in banking, debt contracting, short selling, and information externalities. He has held previous faculty positions at MIT, Southern Methodist University, and Texas A&M University.

Yu’s research examines how financial reporting influences market behaviors and institutional outcomes, including studies on regulatory impacts (e.g., SEC short-sale policies), credit markets, and information asymmetry in corporate transactions. His recent work explores spillover effects of fraud and R&D reporting rules.
Yu’s peer-reviewed publications in journals like Management Science and Review of Accounting Studies highlight trends in capital markets efficiency, regulatory experimentation, and information-driven lending practices. His work bridges accounting, finance, and institutional economics.
