Rutgers, The State University of New Jerseyمعرفی
Jeehyun Choi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Rutgers University's School of Arts and Sciences, specializing in Asian American and Asian diasporic literatures with particular expertise in transnational Asian American studies and critical Korean studies.
Her research focuses on transpacific cultural productions that engage with the history of multiple imperialisms in Asia. Choi's current book project examines the political commitments of Korean American and diasporic writers who develop new modalities of anti-imperial resistance in transnational contexts. She approaches translation as a method to uncover the rich social histories that have shaped Korean diasporic imagination, working with texts written in both Korean and English to challenge established narratives of Asian diasporic history.
Before joining Rutgers, Choi was a Korea Foundation-Korea Institute Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University. Her academic training includes a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley, an M.St. from the University of Oxford, and a BA from Brown University.
Choi's work bridges literary analysis with critical race theory, postcolonial studies, and translation studies, with particular attention to twentieth and twenty-first century literature. Her research contributes to expanding the understanding of Asian American literature through translingual perspectives that challenge conventional disciplinary boundaries.
