Jecksin Ooi is an Assistant Professor at the School of Engineering & Physical Sciences, Heriot-Watt University. His research focuses on sustainable process design, solvent engineering, and application of advanced analytics like machine learning and fuzzy logic in decision-making systems. He actively contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals through work on environmental safety, bioenergy, and healthcare technologies.
Research interests span solvent design for biomass processing, predictive modeling of toxicological aspects, and optimization of wastewater treatment systems. He employs methods such as Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and rough set theory for multi-criteria decision support in both industrial and clinical contexts.
Notable achievements include the 2024 Heriot-Watt Malaysia Teaching Oscars Best Supervisor Award, reflecting his commitment to student mentorship. His recent articles (2023-2025) emphasize Industry 4.0 applications in agriculture, eco-friendly solvents, and clinical decision systems for eye diseases. He collaborates internationally on topics ranging from biorefinery systems to adsorbent materials development.
