Jeannette Ickovics is the Samuel and Liselotte Herman Professor of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Yale School of Public Health and former Dean of Faculty at Yale-NUS College. Her research investigates the interplay of biomedical, behavioral, social and psychological factors influencing health equity, with over $40 million in research funding from NIH, CDC and private foundations.
Her education includes a Ph.D. from George Washington University and postdoctoral training at Yale. She established CARE (Community Alliance for Research and Engagement) and directed an NIH training program for 15 years.
Research focuses on prenatal care innovations demonstrating 33-41% reductions in preterm birth, community-based interventions for obesity prevention, and climate change impacts on urban health. Recent work examines climate resilience strategies through collaborations with the Resilient Cities Network.
Honors include the Martha May Eliot Award from APHA (2023), Fellow of the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research (2021), and Strickland-Daniel Mentoring Award from APA (2018). Current roles include chairing APA's Board of Scientific Affairs and Climate Change Advisory Group.
