Jeanette Smith is an Assistant Teaching Professor and Undergraduate Program Director in the Religious Studies department at Florida International University (FIU). She specializes in Society, Culture, and Ethics, integrating innovative pedagogical approaches such as community-based learning and hybrid teaching methods. Her work bridges religious studies with social justice advocacy, including contributions to wage theft ordinances and collaborations with organizations like South Florida Interfaith Worker Justice.
Prof. Smith holds a law degree and has extensive international experience, having studied in Mexico, Italy, Greece, Singapore, and Jamaica. She is FIU’s inaugural COIL Faculty Fellow (2021), advancing Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) initiatives to enhance global educational opportunities. She also supports faculty in transitioning courses to hybrid formats, expanding access for students.
Her current projects include integrating 'Emotional Intelligence' into religious studies curricula to address 21st-century skills.
