Dr. Jeanet Landsman-Dijkstra is the Head of the Applied Health Research (TGO)-Health Sciences section at the University of Groningen’s Faculty of Medical Sciences, where she serves as a Senior Researcher. She leads a team of 15 researchers and oversees applied health research focused on improving participation and quality of life for marginalized groups, including individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), medically unexplained symptoms, intellectual disabilities, and chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension. Her expertise includes participatory action research, chronic disease management, and Long-COVID interventions.
Education: She holds a Physiotherapy degree (1991) from Leeuwarden, a Master’s in Movement Sciences (1994) from the University of Groningen, and a PhD (2005) on participatory action research for chronic pain management. Prior to her current role, she worked in educational coordination and management at the Protestant Theological University.
Research: Her work bridges clinical practice and academia, emphasizing empowerment and interprofessional collaboration. Key projects include international diabetes/hypertension programs, autism participation studies, and leadership of the Long-COVID action research initiative. She also co-leads the Wetenschapswinkel initiative, connecting stakeholders with student researchers for free applied studies.
Affiliations: She serves on the steering group for the Academic Workshop on Autism and the scientific council of the Papageno Foundation. Her mission focuses on enabling societal participation for health-affected populations through evidence-based interventions.
