Dr. Jean Publicover is a researcher at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), with expertise in viral immunology, hepatology, and vaccine development. She holds a PhD in Viral Pathogenesis and Vaccine Development from Yale University (2006) and a B.S. in Microbiology from the University of Rochester (2001). Her research focuses on understanding immune mechanisms against hepatitis B virus (HBV), T-cell biology, and cytokine signaling in liver diseases. Dr. Publicover has been recognized with grants and fellowships, including the NIDDK K01 Award (2013-2018) and the UCSF Liver Center Pilot Grant (2015-2016).
- Education: PhD in Viral Pathogenesis (Yale, 2006), B.S. Microbiology (Rochester, 2001)
Her research interests include age-dependent immune responses to HBV, Treg cell enrichment in tumors, and integrin-mediated immune regulation. She has contributed to the development of novel vaccine vectors and bioinformatics tools for immunological data analysis (e.g., Cyclone pipeline). Her work bridges basic science and clinical translation, addressing challenges in viral immunity and cancer immunotherapy.
Scientific Awards:
- UCSF Liver Center Pilot Feasibility Grant (2015-2016)
- NIDDK K01 Award (2013-2018)
- Giannini Foundation Fellowship (2008-2011)
Her publications span immunology, hepatology, and virology, with a focus on HBV pathogenesis, T-cell interactions, and cytokine signaling. She has collaborated on projects involving TGF-β activation, OX40/OX40L signaling, and integrin biology in tumor microenvironments.
