Jean McHugh

Dr. Jean McHugh is Associate Professor, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs, and Director of the Accelerated BS Track at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University's College of Nursing. A board-certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, she holds a PhD from New York University and MSN/BSN from Hunter College.

Research Focus: Her program examines organizational commitment in healthcare, workplace incivility impacts, clinical learning innovations, and evidence-based practice implementation. Recent work explores virtual clinical environments and strategies to reduce hospital-acquired infections.

Awards & Leadership: Honors include Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine (FNYAM), PRODiG Faculty Scholar, and Diversity Champion Award. She chairs the Nursing Council for Research and Evidence-Based Practice and serves on SUNY Downstate's Institutional Review Board.

Grants & Projects: Has led studies on employee engagement (2012-2018), workplace incivility (2010-2011), and elderly diabetic support (1990-1992). Maintains active membership in Sigma Theta Tau, American Academy of Nursing, and Eastern Nursing Research Society.
