Dr. Jean Marie Linhart is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Central Washington University (CWU) and previously served as Senior Lecturer at Texas A&M University (TAMU). She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin (1999), following a B.S. (University of Chicago, 1990) and M.A. (UT Austin, 1993). Her expertise centers on undergraduate research mentorship, with a focus on applied mathematics and interdisciplinary projects. She has advised students on topics such as solar energy systems, mathematical modeling, and engineering calculus.
Dr. Linhart is a recipient of TAMU’s University Distinguished Teaching Award (2014), nominated by students. She organizes outreach initiatives like the AMUSE seminar and the ATMentors program, offering academic and personal guidance to students. Her teaching spans courses including Mathematical Modeling (Math 442), Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra. She actively promotes STEM advocacy and has mentored students achieving awards such as the Goldwater Scholarship and SIAM presentations.
Outside academia, she is an avid cyclist, commuting daily to CWU, and engages in geocaching and writing. Her professional reading interests include leadership and psychology, emphasizing inclusive education and bias awareness.
