معرفی
Jean Marie Delalande is a Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University London, working within the Centre for Immunobiology at the Blizard Institute, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. His research focuses on the development of the enteric nervous system and neural crest cell behavior during embryogenesis.
His educational background includes:
- PhD from the University of Rennes I (France), where he studied myogenic bHLH transcription factors
- Post-doctoral positions at the Royal Free Hospital (UK) with Prof. Geoffrey Goldspink
- Post-doctoral positions at the Institute of Child Health (UK) with Dr. Alan Burns
- Post-doctoral positions at Emory University (USA) with Dr. Iain Shepherd
- Research-associate position at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City (USA)
Dr. Delalande's research centers on neural crest cells that build the enteric nervous system (ENS), which controls gut motility. His work investigates how these cells migrate, connect, and interact with other cell types in the embryonic gut. This research has clinical significance as ENS defects result in gut disorders including Hirschsprung disease and intestinal pseudo-obstruction. His recent publications demonstrate expertise in both developmental biology and gastrointestinal neuroscience, with a particular focus on how extracellular matrix components like tenascin-X influence neural function in the gut.
At Queen Mary, Dr. Delalande serves as the module lead for metabolism for MBBS years 1 and 2 and GEP, and is the teaching lead for the Centre for Immunobiology. During his PhD, he taught animal physiology for biology students at the University of Rennes I, and later taught biology laboratories for medical students at Emory University covering genetics, forensic science, and developmental biology.
