Dr. Jean M. Bernhardt is an Associate Professor at the MGH Institute of Health Professions and Director of Occupational Health Enterprise Clinical Services for Mass General Brigham. Her expertise spans nurse leadership development, substance use disorder care, and disaster response. Dr. Bernhardt holds a PhD in Nursing and Health Policy from the University of Massachusetts Boston, MSN from the University of Virginia, and BSN from Fitchburg State College.
Her research focuses on strengthening ambulatory care nursing roles, improving opioid use disorder patient outcomes, and examining leadership during crises. Recent work addresses pandemic-related clinical leadership challenges and nurse-sensitive indicators in addiction care.
