Jean-Louis Arcand is a Professor of International Economics at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva since 2008. He previously served as Director of the Centre for Finance and Development (2012-2016) and Chair of Development Studies (2009-2012). A Founding Fellow of the European Union Development Network (EUDN) and Senior Fellow at FERDI, his work bridges development economics, global health, and policy evaluation.

His research focuses on the microeconomics of development, particularly impact evaluation of social programs in West Africa and the Maghreb. Key areas include HIV/AIDS prevention, food security, linguistic economics, and economic history.
