Jean Kupper is an Associate Professor and Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Northern Michigan University (NMU). He holds an M.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University and a bachelor’s from Roanoke College. His roles include teaching in NMU’s Social Work department as adjunct faculty (2002–2014) and serving as a counselor at NMU’s Counseling Center since 2014. Previously, he worked in Marquette’s community mental health system, leading Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) initiatives and providing emergency psychiatric care. He also served as a Field Liaison Adjunct Faculty at Michigan State University’s School of Social Work.
His expertise spans clinical supervision, crisis intervention, and mental health service delivery across inpatient, outpatient, and community-based settings. He specializes in addressing complex psychiatric cases and has extensive experience with diverse populations.
