Jean Frazier

Jean Frazier is Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at UMass Chan Medical School, holding the Robert M. and Shirley S. Siff Chair in Autism. She directs the Child and Adolescent Neurodevelopment Initiative (CANDI), researching neurodevelopmental disorders across diagnostic boundaries.

Education: BA (Wellesley College), MD (Dartmouth Medical School), with psychiatry training at Brown University and NIMH.

Research Focus: Frazier's program investigates biomarkers and interventions for pediatric bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and autism using genetic, neuroimaging, and clinical trial approaches. Her work emphasizes transdiagnostic mechanisms in neurodevelopment.

Clinical Leadership: As Vice Chair and Director of Child/Adolescent Psychiatry, she oversees clinical programs while maintaining research on early intervention strategies.

Awards: Multiple honors for research and teaching, including Exemplary Psychiatrist (NAMI 2002), Distinguished Fellow (APA 2006), and teaching awards from UMass and Step Up for Kids.
