Jean-Baptiste Lagaert

Jean-Baptiste Lagaert serves as an Associate Professor within the ANEDP team (Analyse Numérique et Équations aux Dérivées Partielles) at the Mathematics Laboratory (UMR 8628) of the University of Paris-Sud. His academic career includes a postdoctoral position at LEGI/LJK in Grenoble INP (2011-2013) funded by ANR SCALE, and doctoral research at the University of Bordeaux (2008-2011) focused on tumor growth modeling.

His research spans three primary domains: bio-mathematics with emphasis on tumor growth modeling (particularly gliomas), high performance computing with expertise in parallelism and MPI implementation, and numerical methods including coupling of different computational approaches for advection problems. His work on tumor modeling addresses both parameter estimation through inverse problems and development of specialized models for different glioma grades.

Lagaert's publications demonstrate a strong interdisciplinary approach connecting computational fluid dynamics with biomedical applications. His recent work shows consistent focus on developing efficient numerical methods for complex systems, particularly addressing high Schmidt number flows in turbulence and brain tumor modeling with clinical relevance.

As an educator, he teaches across multiple levels at Paris-Sud University including L1, L3, and M1 courses in numerical methods, differential equations, and scientific computing for engineering students. His teaching portfolio includes programming practicals in Fortran, numerical schemes for ODEs/PDEs, and finite volume/difference methods.
