Dr. Jayne Garland is a Professor at Western University's School of Physical Therapy with a cross-appointment in the Department of Physiology & Pharmacology. She maintains an active research profile in motor control and rehabilitation science.
Her educational background includes:
- BScPT from Queen's University
- MClSc from Western University
- PhD from McMaster University
Professor Garland's research program focuses on two main areas: (1) neural control of force production and movement under muscle fatigue conditions, where she employs sophisticated single motor unit analysis to investigate fundamental motor control principles; and (2) recovery of motor control following stroke, with emphasis on postural control, utilizing both clinical and physiological measures to examine balance and mobility deficits. Her work bridges basic neurophysiology with clinical rehabilitation applications.
Dr. Garland maintains scholarly visibility through PubMed and holds an ORCID identifier (0000-0003-1117-2935). She is currently not accepting new graduate students for supervision.
