Jayne Cutter

Professor Jayne Cutter is the Head of the School of Health and Social Care at Swansea University. She transitioned from clinical practice in surgery, intensive care, and infection control to academia, becoming a lecturer before her promotion to Professor in March 2019. Her leadership oversees ~1,400 undergraduate nursing students, 200 post-registration/postgraduate students, 10 PhD candidates, and a team of 50+ staff. She manages significant budgets and recruitment processes, ensuring program compliance with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards.

• Research Focus: Infection prevention, vaccination injury reporting, and dementia care, with methodological expertise in quantitative research.
• Administrative Roles: Curricular developer for NMC-compliant programs, contributor to all-Wales healthcare education frameworks.
• External Leadership: Member of UK/Wales Council of Deans for Health, Vice Chair of Welsh Nursing and Midwifery Committee, and Chair of the All Wales Pre-registration Nursing and Midwifery Group.

Her work integrates clinical practice, education innovation, and policy advocacy to shape healthcare training and patient safety standards across Wales and the UK.
