Jay Rajapakse

Dr. Jay Rajapakse is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), and a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management. With a PhD from University College London, his expertise spans public health engineering, sustainable water treatment, and stormwater management. He has extensive international experience including post-doctoral research at UCL and Imperial College London, and former academic positions at PNG University of Technology.

Research Focus:

• Pebble matrix filtration and alternative filter media
• Sustainable stormwater management and WSUD applications
• Waste recycling and resource recovery in water treatment

His publications demonstrate consistent focus on practical solutions for water quality challenges, with recent emphasis on tailings management in mining, drinking water safety in indigenous communities, and waste valorization.
