Jay Pelletier is an Instructor and Program Coordinator in Forensic Science at Husson University's College of Business School of Legal Studies. He holds an MS in Criminal Justice Administration from Husson University, a Bachelor’s in Criminology from the University of Southern Maine, and an Associate’s in Criminal Justice from the University of Maine at Fort Kent.
Prior to academia, Pelletier served 25 years with the Maine State Police, advancing from Trooper to Detective Corporal. His investigative expertise includes sexual assault, homicide, and death case investigations, and he was a founding member of the Maine State Police Evidence Response Team (ERT). He is certified as a Crime Scene Investigator and has testified as an expert in Bloodstain Pattern Analysis. Pelletier retired in 2022 as a Det. Corporal after contributing to the Unsolved Homicide Unit.
His teaching philosophy emphasizes bridging classroom theory with real-world field experiences, drawing on decades of frontline law enforcement and forensic work. He actively mentors students pursuing careers in Legal Studies, including roles in law enforcement, forensics, and corrections.
