Javiera Atenas

Javiera Atenas is a Senior Lecturer in Learning and Teaching Enhancement at the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, focusing on critical data literacies, open education policies, and education equity. She leads the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PgCAP) and teaches data visualization for social scientists. Her roles include policy advisory work with the OE Policy Hub, Open Data Charter, and ANVUR’s teaching skills committee. Educated in Library and Information Science (UTEM, Chile), Knowledge Management (HAW, Germany), and Education (UB, Spain), she bridges academic research and policy advocacy. Her work emphasizes data ethics, open education, and social justice in higher education.

Her approach integrates policy, pedagogy, and social justice to address datafication’s societal impacts.
