Javier Pérez Gil is a Professor of Theory and History of Architecture at the University of Valladolid's Department of Architectural Theory and Architectural Design. He holds a degree in Art History from the University of León (1999) and a PhD from the University of Valladolid (2004). His research focuses on Royal Sites, Urbanism, and architectural heritage conceptualization and restoration. He coordinates teaching innovation projects and directs the Royal Palace of Valladolid Chair of Cultural Heritage and Defense (Ministry of Defense - University of Valladolid).
Key research areas include the history of Spanish royal architecture, vernacular architecture, and cultural heritage preservation. He has authored multiple books on these topics, including works on medieval monasteries, courtly urbanism, and restoration methodologies.
Recipient of the 2017 Educational Innovation Award from the University of Valladolid's Social Council, he is also an ordinary member of the 'Territorial and Urban Planning' Research Group (GIR UVa) and collaborates with the 'Humanists' group (ULE). His work bridges historical analysis with contemporary conservation practices.
