Javier Moscoso

Javier Moscoso is a Professor of History and Philosophy of Science at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). His research focuses on the cultural history of pain, emotions, and the political dimensions of scientific passions. He has held visiting positions at Washington University in St. Louis (2014) and the University of Chicago (Georges Lurcy Visiting Professor).

His notable works include Historia Cultural del Dolor (2011, Spanish; 2012, English) and Broken Promises: A Political History of the Passions (2017). At the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, he worked on a global history of human teeth and the cultural history of the swing.
