Javier Bernad serves as Professor of Communication Skills at IE Business School, IE University. He is the founder of Speak & Span, a public speaking training center that has trained over 8,000 professionals since 1998 for clients including Airbus, Procter & Gamble, HP, KPMG, and Coca-Cola.
His educational credentials include a PhD in Communication and Master's in Corporate Communication from Universidad Complutense, complemented by degrees in Law and Economics & Business Administration from ICADE, E-3. Bernad's expertise focuses on dismantling public speaking barriers through dynamic, confidence-building methodologies.
He has authored two influential books: "Alto y Claro" (2014) on public speaking principles and "El Carisma Hablando en Público" (2023) exploring charisma in leadership. His research manifests through practical applications rather than traditional academic articles, evidenced by his Expansión newspaper column and TEDx Cibeles speaker coaching.
Bernad integrates industry experience from executive roles at MediaCom España and MEC (WPP group) with his academic work. His training methodology analyzes over 25,000 presentation recordings to refine communication techniques for corporate environments.
Outside academia, he is a PADI Australia diving instructor, mountain biking enthusiast, and photographer, residing in Madrid with his wife and three children.
