Chancellor Javier A. Reyes is a Professor of Finance at the Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts Amherst. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Texas A&M University (2003) and a B.A. in Economics with a Minor in Finance from Monterrey Tech (1998). His academic roles include Professorships at University of Illinois Chicago (2021-2023), West Virginia University (2016-2021), and the University of Arkansas (2003-2016), where he also served as an Associate and Assistant Professor. He has been an invited lecturer at institutions including ESC Toulouse, Monterrey Tech, and the Clinton School of Public Service.
Reyes' research focuses on macroeconomic networks, international finance, and experimental economics. His work explores topics like financial contagion in global trade systems, growth networks in development economics, and decision-making under uncertainty. His 2013 publications in Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control and Journal of Development Economics highlight his contributions to understanding systemic risk and network-based economic models.
