Javad Nasiry is a Professor of Operations Management at McGill University's Desautels Faculty of Management since 2019, previously holding an associate professorship at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) from 2010. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Technology and Operations Management from INSEAD (France), an MBA from Sharif University of Technology (Iran), and a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from the same institution. His research focuses on behavioral operations, supply chain management, sustainability, and the operations-marketing interface. He leads McGill's Sustainable Growth Initiative (SGI), fostering sustainable business practices across industries. Notable contributions include studies on fast fashion sustainability, wage transparency in salesforces, and crop rotation optimization in agriculture.
Teaching expertise spans statistics, decision analytics, pricing, and operations management across undergraduate, MBA, and MMA programs. Recognized for contributions to academic journals such as Management Science and Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, his work bridges behavioral economics with operational decision-making. Awards include the INFOMRS Behavioral Operations Management Section Best Working Paper Award (2016) and recognition for student paper competitions. Engagements include media appearances on topics like food supply chains and sustainable fashion, reflecting his commitment to applied research with societal impact.
Professional activities include serving as President of the POMS College of Behavioral Operations and directing cross-disciplinary sustainability initiatives. His research group collaborates on projects addressing environmental challenges in apparel, energy, and agriculture sectors, emphasizing data-driven solutions for sustainable growth.
