Dr. Jasper Stevens is a Researcher at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Groningen, affiliated with the Kidney Center (GKC). His expertise focuses on pharmacometrics, including the development of non-linear population approach models for pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies. He holds external roles as a consultant for CBG-MEB, CHDR, and AM-Pharma, with honoraria directed to his employer, UMCG.
Stevens completed his PhD in Pharmacology at Leiden University (2005-2011), specializing in the translational pharmacology of dopamine receptor agonists and biomarkers. He holds an MSc in Behavioral and Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Groningen (1998-2004). Postdoctoral training included clinical pharmacology at Indiana University (2010-2012) and a pharmacometrician role at the Centre for Human Drug Research (2012-2016).
His research emphasizes kidney function assessment, drug pharmacokinetics, and the development of non-radioactive diagnostic methods. Key contributions include LC-MS/MS methods for iothalamate and hippuran quantification and UHPLC-MS/MS improvements for iohexol analysis. Stevens has been recognized with the 2024 UMCG Innovation Prize for advancing non-invasive kidney function measurement techniques.
He supervises PhD students, such as Abdulfataah Mohamed, and engages in peer-review activities for journals like Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism and Clinical Pharmacokinetics. His work addresses sustainable drug development and personalized medicine, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and innovation.
