Jason Wagganer serves as Professor and Chair of Exercise Science within the School of Allied Health, Kinesiology, & Sport Sciences at Southeast Missouri State University, where he has held academic appointments for 15 years including six years as Department Chair. He holds Fellow status (FACSM) and certification as an Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-EP) through the American College of Sports Medicine.
His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (2009), an M.S. in Nutrition and Exercise Science, and a B.S. in Health Management: Fitness & Sports Medicine, both from Southeast Missouri State University.
Dr. Wagganer's research centers on Exercise Physiology with specialized focus on longitudinal body composition changes in Division I athletes. His work spans athletic performance optimization, comparative body composition assessment methodologies, and metabolic responses to exercise-nutrition interactions. He has published 16 peer-reviewed journal articles, one book chapter, and over 80 conference proceedings while securing multiple internal research grants.
