Jason Tennessen serves as Associate Professor and Associate Chair for Research and Facilities in the Department of Biology at Indiana University Bloomington, College of Arts & Sciences. His research program investigates metabolic regulation during developmental growth using Drosophila melanogaster as a genetic model system.

Dr. Tennessen's research focuses on aerobic glycolysis (the Warburg effect) during Drosophila larval development, when animals increase body size approximately 200-fold over four days. His lab studies how this metabolic program supports rapid proliferation by generating biomass rather than energy, with implications for cancer therapy and stem cell biology.
