Jason Strandquist is an Associate Professor of History at Union University. He specializes in the social impact of religious change in German-speaking Europe and explores connections between historical and modern attitudes toward games/sports as reflections of religious thought. His teaching includes World Civilization, Modern Europe, the French Revolution, and Renaissance/Reformation courses. A new course on 'History of the Germanies' is under development.
Education: Ph.D. and M.A. in History from Pennsylvania State University; B.A. in History from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Research interests focus on intersections of religious transformation and cultural practices, particularly through comparative analysis of historical and contemporary contexts. His work highlights how leisure activities reveal deeper spiritual and societal shifts over time.
