Jason Slaughter is an Instructor in the Department of Music at Mars Hill University. He holds a Ph.D. from Rutgers University (2017), an M.A. from New York University (2011), an M.M. from the University of Nevada Las Vegas (2008), and a B.M. from Mars Hill College (2005). His research focuses on contemporary big band music, contemporary classical music, media studies, and modern philosophy. Dr. Slaughter has performed with renowned musicians such as Joe Lovano and Lenny Pickett, and in venues like Lincoln Center and the Blue Note jazz club. He has also taught at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, Stevens Institute of Technology, and as an elementary music teacher in New York City. His compositions have been performed internationally, and he emphasizes music's role in revealing 'unconcealed truth' about human unity and potential.
