Dr. Jason Scott Knight is the Marvin and Betty Danto Research Professor of Connective Tissue Research and Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School. He serves as Program Director of Internal Medicine and leads the Knight Lab, focusing on autoimmune diseases like lupus and antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). His research explores neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), thrombosis, and inflammation mechanisms.
Dr. Knight received his MD and PhD from the University of Michigan, with postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania and University of Michigan. He holds prestigious awards including the American College of Rheumatology Distinguished Fellow Award and the Edmund L. Dubois Award for lupus research.
His NIH-funded lab investigates APS pathogenesis, targeting therapies like Taxifolin and calprotectin modulation. Collaborations include the Samuel and Jean Frankel Cardiovascular Center and the Center for Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics.
Recent studies highlight roles for NETosis in lupus, platelet survival defects in APS, and biomarkers for pediatric APS. He also contributed to the 2023 ACR/EULAR APS classification criteria.
