Jason R. Lucey

Jason R. Lucey is an Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean of Advanced Practice Programs at the MGH Institute of Health Professions (IHP) School of Nursing. He joined the faculty full-time in 2014 after serving as a term lecturer, and has held leadership roles including Family Track Co-Coordinator, Program Director, and Assistant Dean. His clinical background in emergency and urgent care settings has driven his focus on harm reduction and substance use disorder treatment. Lucey has been recognized with awards such as the Nancy T. Watts Award for Excellence in Teaching (2018) and the DAISY Faculty Award (2017).

Education: BA in Spanish Literature from College of the Holy Cross (Worcester, MA), MS in Nursing (Family Practice) from MGH IHP, and Doctor of Nursing Practice (University of New Hampshire).

Research focuses on integrating harm reduction strategies into healthcare, particularly opioid epidemic response, and advancing JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion) principles in nursing education. He advocates for evidence-based care for marginalized populations, including people who use drugs, and has contributed to policy changes like legalizing syringe service programs in New Hampshire. His scholarship emphasizes compassionate care for substance use disorders and improving curricula to address stigmatized health issues.
