معرفی
Jason Papin is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia, with a focus on computational systems biology and metabolic network analysis. He leads the Computational Systems Biology Lab, which integrates experimental and computational approaches to study biological systems relevant to human diseases like cancer, heart failure, and infectious diseases. His work bridges quantitative biology, systems biology, and machine learning, supported by grants from NIH, NSF, and other agencies.
Education: Ph.D. (2005), M.S. (2002), and B.S. (2000) in Bioengineering from UC San Diego.
Research Interests: Systems biology, metabolic network analysis, computational modeling of microbial communities, and translational applications in biotechnology and medicine. His lab develops tools like Reconstructor for genome-scale metabolic network reconstructions and explores probiotic functionality, pathogen interactions, and drug toxicity mechanisms.
Awards: Elected Fellow of the Biomedical Engineering Society (2018), AIMBE (2016), and recipient of the NSF CAREER Award (2007–2012). Recognized for teaching excellence, including the Kadner Award for Graduate Teaching (2017) and multiple mentoring awards.
Grants: Leads the NIH-funded Systems and Biomolecular Data Science Training Program (SBDS) and the iTHRIV Scholars Program, emphasizing interdisciplinary training and translational research.
Labs/Teams: Computational Systems Biology Lab (CSBL) focuses on predicting metabolic behaviors, developing computational tools, and collaborating with industry for drug discovery and probiotic development.
