Jason P. Glotzbach, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Utah. He joined the faculty in 2016 and serves as Co-Director of the multidisciplinary Aortic Disease Program. His clinical practice focuses on adult cardiac surgery, with expertise in aortic pathology, minimally invasive valve repair, and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).
Education and Training:
- Princeton University: A.B. in History
- Tulane University School of Medicine: M.D.
- University of North Carolina: General Surgery Residency
- Columbia University: Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship
- Stanford University: Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Surgery
Research Focus: Dr. Glotzbach leads clinical and translational research on aortic diseases, including genetic studies of aortic aneurysms/dissections and the TAVR low-risk trial. His work integrates surgical outcomes, epidemiology, and innovative techniques like endovascular stent-graft procedures.
Publication Trends: His recent articles emphasize aortic disease management, TAVR outcomes, and minimally invasive techniques. Key themes include familial risk stratification, surgical innovations for bicuspid valves, and healthcare delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Grants and Leadership: As Principal Investigator for the TAVR low-risk trial, he evaluates surgical vs. transcatheter valve replacement. He co-directs the Aortic Disease Program and collaborates on multidisciplinary teams for complex cardiac cases.
