Jason Fox Manning is a Professor of Mathematics at Cornell University, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Mathematics. His research focuses on geometric group theory and geometric topology, particularly exploring hyperbolic groups, Dehn fillings, and low-dimensional topology. Manning holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2003) and has advised graduate students Teddy Einstein and Drew Zemke. He teaches courses such as Theoretical Linear Algebra and Calculus (MATH 2240) and Riemannian Geometry (MATH 6620). His work is supported by Simons Foundation Collaboration Grants. Recent research emphasizes boundaries of hyperbolic groups, stability of group actions, and cubulation techniques in geometric contexts.
Education: Ph.D. in Mathematics, University of California, Santa Barbara (2003).
Research Interests: Geometric group theory, geometric topology, hyperbolic geometry, low-dimensional topology, and applications to 3-manifolds. His studies investigate hyperbolic structures, group actions on boundaries, and the interplay between algebraic properties and geometric constructions.
Advising & Grants: Supported by Simons Foundation grants, Manning has mentored students and contributed to foundational work in geometric group theory. Courses include advanced topics in geometry and topology.
