Jason M. Silveira

Jason M. Silveira serves as Professor of Music Education and Conductor of the University of Oregon Wind Symphony within the University of Oregon's School of Music and Dance, where he teaches music education courses and leads premier ensembles.

His academic credentials include:

Dr. Silveira's research investigates music perception and cognition, psychophysiological responses to music, and teacher effectiveness through lenses of psychology of music and social justice. His work examines how individuals process musical stimuli, the physiological correlates of musical experiences, and evidence-based pedagogical practices with emphasis on equity in music education.

His scientific recognition includes:

• Two gubernatorial citations from Rhode Island for excellence in music education
• Honorary membership in Kappa Kappa Psi national band fraternity

As an active scholar, he chairs NAfME's Perception and Cognition Special Research Interest Group and serves as Editor for Update: Applications of Research in Music Education, previously contributing to the Journal of Research in Music Education editorial board.
