Jason Lynam is Professor of Chemistry at the University of York, specializing in transition metal organometallic chemistry and catalysis research. His work focuses on developing time-resolved infrared spectroscopy methods to probe catalytic mechanisms and reaction pathways.
His research group investigates fundamental processes in catalysis through techniques that observe rapid chemical transformations at picosecond to millisecond timescales. Key areas include manganese-catalyzed C-H functionalization, outer-sphere electrophilic fluorination, pyridylidene ligand chemistry, and transition metal vinylidene complexes. This work has applications in synthetic chemistry and reaction optimization.
