Jason Locklin

Jason Locklin is a Professor at the University of Georgia (UGA), leading the New Materials Institute and contributing to UGA’s partnership with Advanced Functional Fabrics of America (AFFOA). His research focuses on biodegradable polymers, antimicrobial surfaces, and sustainable materials engineering. He holds the NSF CAREER Award (2010) and CIA Young Investigator Award (2007).

Education: Ph.D. in Materials Science. Professional roles include founding director of the New Materials Institute and key collaborator in AFFOA, a DOD-funded initiative advancing textile and fiber innovations.

Research interests span biodegradable plastics, nanocomposites, and medical device coatings. Notable projects include developing antifouling surfaces, compostable adhesives, and materials for healthcare and environmental sustainability.
