Dr. Jason Lang is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Neurodevelopment at the University of Glasgow and an Honorary Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. His research focuses on neurodivergence in children and young people, emphasizing a neuro-affirmative approach to address systemic barriers and enhance accessibility. He leads the National Neurodevelopmental Practitioner course and collaborates on the Infant Mental Health course, advocating for inclusive education and healthcare systems. Jason has lived experience as an autistic individual and the father of two neurodivergent daughters, deeply informing his work.
His research interests include neurodiversity, neurodivergent lived experiences, equality in healthcare and education, and systems redesign for neurodivergent support. Notable projects include the Neurodiversity in Scottish Schools (NISS) initiative, aiming to improve educational outcomes for neurodivergent youth. He has secured grants from the National Institute for Health Research, Economic and Social Research Council, and NHS Grampian.
Teaching focuses on neurodiversity-affirming approaches, with roles in the BSc in Psychological Medicine and MSc in Infant Mental Health programs. His philosophy emphasizes interactive, inclusive learning to equip future professionals with practical skills for supporting neurodivergent populations.
