Professor Jason Kovacic is the Executive Director of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute and an Adjunct Professor at The University of Western Australia (School of Human Sciences). He holds a MD from The University of Melbourne (1994) and a PhD in cardiovascular medicine from the Victor Chang Institute. His research focuses on vascular disease pathobiology, with particular expertise in fibromuscular dysplasia and spontaneous coronary artery dissection. He is a practicing interventional cardiologist specializing in heart artery blockages. Notably, he discovered critical pathways in blood vessel blockages during his tenure at the NIH and has authored over 217 peer-reviewed articles. Awards include Fellowships from The American College of Cardiology and The Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He currently serves as President-Elect of the Australian Cardiovascular Alliance and contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals addressing environmental health and cardiovascular equity.
