Jason Johnson is an Assistant Professor in the History Department at Trinity University in San Antonio. He holds a Ph.D. in modern European history from Northwestern University, with a focus on twentieth-century Germany, and spent a year in Berlin on a Fulbright Fellowship. His research spans fascism, the Holocaust, World War II, Cold War dynamics, and European borders.

Johnson's scholarship explores Cold War-era German communities, post-war US occupation, cultural exchanges, and East German political practices. His 2017 book Divided Village examines Mödlareuth under the Iron Curtain, while his 2022 works analyze Cold War tourism and citizen-state interactions. He teaches courses on European history, dictatorships, and the Holocaust, and contributes to Trinity’s academic programs as a McNair Program fellow, Fulbright coordinator, and Phi Beta Kappa chapter president.

Johnson actively engages with the San Antonio Holocaust Memorial Museum, delivers public talks on fascism, and co-founded Trinity’s Jewish Studies Discovery. He also co-established the Trinity-UTSA-Texas A&M San Antonio History Research Workshop and advises IMPACT magazine.
