Jason Hare is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Health Services and Rehabilitation Science at the University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. He is affiliated with the Rehabilitation Science (BS) program and is actively engaged in physician assistant education and clinical training.
His research interests include:
- Physician Assistant education and assessment
- Medically underserved populations
- Interprofessional education and practice
Jason Hare has made significant contributions to PA education, recognized by the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants with the Educator of the Year award. He is inducted into Pi Alpha, the National Honor Society for Physician Assistants, and serves as the faculty advisor for the Pitt Interprofessional Student Board (ISB). He is also the creator and host of the Be Excited! Podcast, which focuses on physician assistant education and clinical practice.
His professional service includes representing the Pitt PA program in the SAMHSA-funded SBIRT educational initiative, promoting substance use screening and intervention training.
His clinical background includes one year at UPMC Sports Medicine in orthopedic surgery and eight years in inpatient primary care at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital, where he began mentoring PA students before joining the faculty full-time in 2014.
