Dr. Jason Gigley is a Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology at the University of Wyoming. His research investigates molecular mechanisms of cellular immunity, with emphasis on Toxoplasma gondii infections, NK cell regulation, and parasite-driven immune dysfunction. The Gigley Lab employs genetic, immunological, and biochemical approaches to study host-pathogen interactions and develop immunotherapies.
His publications focus on T cell exhaustion pathways, dendritic cell biology, checkpoint blockade interventions, and vaccine development against parasitic diseases. Key themes include PD-1/PD-L1 signaling in chronic infections, age-related immune decline, and genetic manipulation of Toxoplasma strains. Recent work explores NK cell activation dynamics and metabolic influences on immune responses.
Dr. Gigley mentors graduate and undergraduate researchers, including Kaitlyn Weitzman. His team utilizes murine infection models, flow cytometry, and molecular biology techniques to dissect immune evasion strategies.
